  9/11 Conspiracy?

  i don't usually go in for conspiracy stuff in fact i'm usually something of a cynic!

  however this has me interested!

  have any of you seen the documentary "9/11 conspiracy, in plane sight?

  ...I lost 4 friends in this trajedy....I was working on a project in each tower and my clients ran for their lives and are lucky to be able to tell the tale ( working on the 60th floor of tower 1)

  I still keep the drawings rolled up on my board so I do not have to accept that this really happened in my own backyard....some mental misperception that as long as I keep these drawings active on my board---all those shocking images of runaway speeding airliners striking the towers is just some bad B rate TV movie....

  ...I have not been back to ground 0 yet; and at this time, do not want to see it. This issue is something I have not come to grips with yet...New York City still operates at an "elevated" alert level. I am careful about WHERE and WHEN I take my children in New York

  ...the subject is still raw for New Yorkers....

  ok ... to me it's not totally related to jw life actually, i'm here because i'm used now to chat with people (you know like you go into a cafe and share wathever you want with whoever as this board is very rich and full for immediat interaction), support them, get some support ... i just like that ... also of course it's very interesting at the same time to follow some news and get information that i might spit back to my familly in time to wake them up .... what about you ?

  ...a sinking ship....Brenda I do agree with you...we are the lucky ones to have caught the lifeboats... just row a little harder...keep rowing and do not look back until you hit land....

  I suppose that since it has been so long for me; the edges are softened and I have to really remember how very hard it was emotionally to initially be out....like many here, I had a very difficult road to travel. But it can be done

  How do you answer when the witnesses call at your door?

  to tell the truth, i am surprised that they call on me anymore since they know who i am.

  Having been there; I am always respectful of them; but make it a point to NEVER engage in any conversation beyond " thank you but I am not interested".

  Why bother? They will never understand; and knowing how they think I cannot see futhering the arguement. In their perspective; they represent God and are RIGHT, and no matter what I say, I am wrong.

  What is there to discuss? Why waste my time or energy.....I have better things to do.

  Sick Nostalgia...

  lately i've been feeling overwhelming nostalgia for my time as a jw.

  i know it's foolish and stupid, but it keeps happening.

  today i was at starbucks and i saw a family come in after meeting.

  I am so sorry .....but as above posts state; this is natural....it will pass.

  You need to make NEW FRIENDS and have NEW POSITIVE experiences in life. This is the only way you can move forward and heal; and forget those negative JW things. We all need a support network of friends. We are social animals and need to know we belong....somewhere with others...

  Join a local club or civic group. Meeting new people with similar interests or hobbies will mean so much at this time. The friendships will snowball; you will make new friends and meet others through them. Take it slow; this fog will lift; your parents will eventually come around.

  Questions About Being Worldly

  did you ever consider yourself a worldy person while being a witness?

  if you did, what constituted worldliness?

  in my days i've done many things that didn't bother my conscious, yet, by todays standards of the org.

  No. I was a "goodie, goodie" JW kid. I was the model JW youth; mild mannered; ready to discuss scripture; an example to the other youths in the congregation; always encouraging the younger ones to go out in service and offering to pick them up. Always had parts in the ministry school and at circuit assemblies.... The "example" young regular pioneer....

  ....and when I started to fade at age 20-21 I did not feel in the least guilty about ANYTHING. I had my first sexual experience at age 22. No guilt. No remorse. No regrets. I couldnt wait to do it again!

  i hope i haven't jumped the gun on this one, but it was too exciting to keep a secret.

  for all of you who followed my trial, and the diappointing results, will find this interesting.

  i have always felt that this story, the whole story, needed to be told.

  good question.

  I think because I have been out of the JWs for 20 odd years and built an entire new life ; friends and family for myself. I do not lack for acceptance or the belonging to a community.

  Interaction on this forum is the only contact I have EVER had with other X jws. There is a certain "camaraderie" here that I do not have with other relationships. We have SO MUCH in common. It is sort of like we are an alumni to a certain High School.....

  Hotel Tipping at Assembly Time

  does anyone remember any stories related to hotels not wanting to do business with the witnesses anymore because the witnesses were leaving literature in their rooms rather than tipping maid service?.

  I would not doubt that the JWs do this. Unfortunatley; I do not think some of them know any better.

  My father ALWAYS tipped for any service we recieved at hotels; assemblies or not. It is expected. And those educated enough to travel KNOW THIS.

  jw's live next door.

  my sister, shunned, moved into her first house she bought last week.

  gwen and i helped her and her husband and 4 kids (yikes!

  ) move their stuff from storage, and from my parents house.. .

  I have a similar problem....

  when my wife and I were walking the property of the house we had just signed a contract to purchase with the real estate agent; from a neighboring house uphill which looks down on the back acreage of our property ; we spotted a woman spying us with binoculars. She came running out shouting my name. It was a JW family which I grew up with. She is a nosy neighbor and always spying on my kids with her binoculars.

  Has anyone got anything positive from being a JW?

  i hear and read alot about peoples experiences and some are pretty horrendous....does anyone actually feel they have benefited from being a jw at least in one way or another...me personally i feel i benefited from the ministry school as public speaking is part of my job and has definately improved career prospects?.

  ...the only thing I could possibly give them any credit for is teaching me self discilpline .....and even that I had to relearn.
